Skill Book Quests

Celebrate! Celebrate! Dance to the Music!

The drudgery is over! Most skill books are once again available in the shops. No more having to quest for them. See the new Skill Book Shops page for a guide of what books are available in which shops. You can still do the quests if you wish, if you cannot afford to buy the skill book, or if you want one of the quest items (see menu above).

Arguably the worst addition to the game since its inception, "Quests" in the Realm are little more than errand-boy missions. You go to the shop that offers what you want and they send to the another place to get something they want and so on... eventually you get an item and reverse the sequence. Yawn!

The tables given on this page contain the starting points for the skill book quests. Look no further if you wish the "fun" of tracking down where to go and who to see for yourself. The skill names provide links to complete quest details. The village names provide links to the appropriate village map.

To use the full detail quest tables simply go to the first village listed, enter the given shop and talk to the shopkeeper. He/she will ask you if you will go get something for him. Agree to do so and then go to the next village listed and repeat the process (enter listed shop, talk to shopkeeper, accept errand), keep doing this until you get to the last shop listed on the quest. Talk to the final shopkeeper and you will be given the item you need. Typically you then go back through the list of shops in reverse order, dropping off the desired item and picking up the item for the next shop, until you return to the start of list. In some instances you can skip back one or more steps, the cases where this occurs should be clear by what item you have in your possession. The last step is giving the final item to the shopkeeper that started you off on the errand and receiving your skill book in return.

Note that all skill books are available as treasure items and may be dropped, at random, by a defeated monster or found in chests, sarcophagi, and bone piles.
